"Go to In & Out" they said. It will be good" they said. Having never left the country, let alone visited the US, we have always heard from people that In & Out was a must visit destination whilst travelling the US.
The hype for this place was enormous but did In & Out Burgers live up to its name?
We visited a very crowded store in Fishermans Wharf in San Fran. It became apparent to us that, no matter the wait, we had to try this famous burger joint out for ourselves.
Looking at the menu, we were surprised that there wasn't a huge variety to choose from, just burgers, fries and drinks.
We were unaware of the "secret" menu which consisted of an animal style burger and cheesy fries. I'm not sure if it was just our batch but the fries seemed very dry and lacked moisture, and the burgers were good, but nothing spectacular. If only we knew about the animal option... (pickles and grilled onions, extra spread and mustard-grilled patties).
There is also a self serve ketchup and jalapeño stand, which I went crazy over because I love the extra hit of spice.
Overall, we found In & Out a nice experience, however definitely over-hyped.
