As good as it looks. The combination of all flavours and texture between the vanilla chantilly frosting and crunchy biscuit worked really well together. Let the photos do the talking.

FRANK'S PIZZA BAR RESTAURANT CAMPERDOWN

WHERE: 137 Parramatta Rd, Camperdown NSW.  02 9519 3404

“There are times when thinking about something is the worst possible policy.”
― John Christopher

Have you ever gotten into the mood where you simply cannot be bothered thinking about where you want to eat? Those moods where, you don't feel like anything in particular?

This happens to both J & C quite frequently, however as driving down Parramatta Rd we noticed an Italian Restaurant that caught our eye.

Make sure you bring cash, because Frank does not accept EFTPOS, however if you're desperate to possibly get killed across the road, a 7/11 Service Station will accommodate your needs as there is an ATM available.

As soon as we enter, we pass the open kitchen and were able to choose our seats since it was not too busy on this late night. The interior looks quite modern and several artsy photos located around the restaraunt. We were handed menus, including the specials.

We both opted for the special gourmet pizza of the night, which contained:
Sweet chili pork belly, spanish onions, capcicum, roasted potatoes, marinated eggplant and buffalo mozzarella cheese

Gourmet Pizza $20

As well as that we ordered a garlic bread and garden salad for entree and lasagne for main with the pizza. The food did take a bit of time to come out, considering it was a fairly quiet night. Portion sizes seemed a bit small and the pork belly meat on the pizza was like finding wally in the wheres wally comics.

Lasagne $12

Parmesan Cheese and Chilli Oil

Garlic Bread $2

 Italian Salad $3.50

Overall, the restaurant had a nice feel, staff were friendly and food was tasty.

Love from J & C

THREE WILLIAMS REDFERN

WHERE: 613a Elizabeth Street, Redfern NSW, 2016.

Second time visit to this Cafe just for some drinks.

Ice Coffee

Banana, medjool date and walnut praline smoothie $7

This drink is a winner. Served in a funky looking glass with a thick straw, made drinking a lot easier.

 Crunchy Brioche French Toast

Would definitely preferred it with a bit more yoghurt on top of the French Toast, but other than that it was fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside.

BRETOWN NEWTOWN

WHERE:  6-8 O’Connel St, Newtown  9519 2920

WEBSITE: https://www.facebook.com/brewtownnewtown/

There is no better way to end the long afternoon or  meal with a good coffee.

Atmosphere: The high ceiling industrial looking building located around the main street of Newtown, is buzzing with many diners. Once stepping inside this cafe, dim lighting and cool breeze traveling from outside gave this place a nice and relaxing feel. There is a choice to sit along  the table top stand or on table aligned in the center of the store. The setting of this cafe is quite interesting.

As we walked to our table we noticed cronuts on virtually every table. I heard the word cronut at least 20 times, it surely had to be a winner.

Service: We were placed on the waiting list by the friendly gentleman, but we were asked to wait 15 minutes due to the cafe being at full capacity. We were given sparkling water once seated. This questioned the fact that isn't sparkling water expensive, as it is provided in restaurants? We were not complaining, it just sparked our curiosity.

Food: Menus on cardboard pin boards seems to be a trend these days. There was a decent amount of items on the menu list, however we only came here for coffee as we had lunch beforehand.

We are always in search of good coffee. The coffee Mocha had a good balance of both chocolate and coffee. The ice coffee is the way ice coffee is to be made. No added ice cream, syrup or cream. Just coffee shot, milk and ice. To C, real coffee drinkers should not add any sugar to their coffee, to genuinely appreciate the real taste of the coffee crema along with the smoothness of the milk.

These cronuts were a little bit different to Zumbo's and personally probably even a bit better as they don't have the sweet filling. Don't get me wrong, these little cinnamon pastries are light, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The cronut peals into thin layers which are really easy to eat. One is just not enough. Unfortunately it was pretty late during the afternoon and most of them were sold out, even the glazed cronut that we did not have the opportunity to try. These are really popular, seeing a patron ordering a great amount to take home with him.

If you are planning to visit, make sure you get in line early. We are definitely going to come back here next time to taste the other food items on the menu.

Much love J and C

BAKEHOUSE GARDEN NORTH STRATHFIELD

WHERE: 11 George Street, North Strathfield 2137

WEBSITE: http://www.bakehousegarden.com.au/

We have been to this restaurant many times after being introduced to us by a friend. Wollamsam is the holy grail to any Korean. We were feeling extremely hungry after the Eastershow and wanted to eat fresh rice paper rolls over the food they had at the show. It was rather late, approximately 8:45pm. C gave Bakehouse Garden a call and we arrived at 9pm just before closing time at 10pm. Place was pretty empty on a Monday night, despite the lateness. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot across the road and a few blocks down.

This place serves Wollumsam which in english is fresh Korean rice paper rolls or other Korean dishes, but the majority of people come here for the Wollumsam.
Wollamsam is very delicious and healthy. Preparation for Wollamsam is no doubt time consuming. It is easier to visit Bakehouse Garden as rolls are very simple to make and it is a do it yourself buffet style for all you can eat at just $20.00.

The diners that usually visit are normally regulars and would know exactly what to do, once entering. First things first, grab as many fresh vegetables toppings and meat as you can. You may need more than one person doing this, as there are not enough hands to carry everything.

Vegetables you can see (cabbage, mint leaves, coriander, tofu, mushrooms, seafood sticks, cucumber, capsicum, carrots.)

Vegetables you can see from here (pineapples, vermicelli thin rice noodles, egg rolls, tomatoes, lettuce, spanish onions, bean sprouts, avocado.)

Beef

Food: Ingredients are very fresh. Always stocked up.
The important ingredients you will need include: rice paper sheets, sauce (normally we mix chilli and non chilli), meat (beef), vegetables you prefer to eat and rice vermicelli noodles. The most important thing is the sauce. Its all about the sauce!!!!

Rice paper sheets

Fish sauce and chilli

Eating can get rather messy from the sauce, so it is recommended by us to use the spoon provided to drip the sauce on top. Beef is only provided here, however it would be a bonus if other types of meats would be included, such as chicken or pork to give it some variation.

Atmosphere: Very very busy on Sundays. Could be a long wait up to 20-30 mins. This restaurant can fit a large amount of people inside and outside dining.

Service: Not much service as it is self served eatery. When entering the service attendant asks you if you are here for Wollamsum. Then they will place a plate of water on your table for the rolls and drinking water.
The service attendants are quite efficient when topping up the trays for the vegetables. However sometimes there is a wait on the avocado as it is a popular topping for the wollamsum. Avocado gets demolished very quickly and one time we ate unripe avocado, which was really hard and not really edible, but for us avo is crucial!

Bakehouse Garden is a nice place to go to for a large gathering with friends. Normally friends would have a competition of who can eat the most rolls.

Much love J and C.
