DEVON ON DANKS WATERLOO

WHERE: 2 Danks Street Waterloo

WEBSITE: http://www.devoncafe.com.au/

Do you ever get excited and start searching what to eat on your birthday? Last Friday, as I opened the Devon Cafes website, I read that the owner grew up at the same hometown as my father, I was stunned. We have visited the original location last year and were very enticed to visit Devon on Danks. A lot more spacious than the one in Surry Hills. Danks has more to offer from the array of cakes and donuts. It is a nicely presented establishment with plenty of tables with beautiful ornaments and high chairs near the counter. We were seated inside directly in front of the entrance with a cool breeze and optimum lighting.

Looking at the menu, without any discussion, Dr SUSS’s and Breakfast with the Sakuma’s were the two options that I was tossing on choosing between, which was surprisingly the same thoughts running through J’s mind. Too easy! We ordered both, our usual coffees (Latte and Mocha) with an extra side of fries.

Breakfast with the Sakuma’s $25: Miso grilled king salmon, smoked eel, croquette, 63 degree egg, radish petit salad & kewpi mayonnaise.

The salmon was cooked to perfection, slightly pink and was best eaten with the croquette and mayonnaise.

Dr Suss’s green egg and ham $20: thick cut bacon, 63 degree egg, green tomato ketchup, pea puree, soybeans, pea tendrils, jus

There is nothing we can fault about on our dishes. All the elements work well together. The fries were cooked crispy and moist with a good amount of sea salt.

We both found ourselves, licking our lips and looking at each other with a big smile on our faces. It was a perfect start to our day. Devon gets the tick approval for both of us and we most surely be back for more!

KETCHUP PREMIUM BURGER BAR LAS VEGAS

Where: 3663 S Las Vegas blvd

Website: http://www.ketchuplasvegas.com/

In the US, burger shops are not hard to find. Being a tourist in the US we were unaware of what was good from bad, other than the typical cliche, In & Out franchises.

As we were walking through Las Vegas, we stumbled across an intriguing place, called Ketchup Premium.

The place was fairly empty, and we were greeted by kind staff and looked through the menu. It may be a hard choice for some as there are plenty of mouth watering options, catering for any burger loving soul.

Take a look at what we ordered!

Chicken Classic $11.10: Chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, avocado spread, honey mustard.

MAC ATTACK Burger: Angus beef patty, fried macaroni and cheese patty, bacon, cheddar cheese, garlic aioli. $12.03

Sweet potato fries $5.09

Western burger: Angus beef patty, grilled mushrooms, caramelised onion, swiss cheese, mayo. $12.03

Morning Glory Burger: Angus beef, bacon, fried egg, hash brown patty, cheddar cheese $12.03

In Australia, we are limited in our options of flavored soft drinks. This was simply a dream. Who just wants a boring standard sprite? YOU MUST TRY, PEACH SPRITE. ERMAHGAWD!

As if plain ketchup wasn't enough.. why not 2.....3...... or 8.

Not sure if it is a standard in America, but the buns had a sweet taste. Burgers, overall were a 7/10. But the crinkle cut sweet potato fries were definately worth getting.

Undoubtedly, there are plenty of better options than Ketchup Premium, but with all the added choices of drinks, and an everlasting supply of ketchup. It's definitely a winner in our books.

Tell us what you think, if you've been before. In the meantime, we'll dream about having peach sprite here in Australia..

Much Love

J & C

ZEUS STREET GREEK

WHERE: 187- 189 Lyons Road, Drummoyne. Sydney NSW 2047.

Website: http://zeusstreetgreek.com.au/

Zeus, is the Father of God's according to Greek religion. Naturally we had big expectations, and we were not disappointed. The presentation of Zeus was very clean and modern and spotted with little lightning bolts around the place.

The menu is quite petite, and hails freshly cooked meat and ingredients.

You know they only make it fresh.

Chips $5.50, Feta & Oregano Chips $7.50

Nude Lamb 200g $18.50

The Nude Lamb just melts in your mouth. Very juicy and moist with a side of tzatziki and lemon. It would have been better with a side of salad, because it was very hearty on its own.

The Zeus- Lamb $11.50
Spartan- Chicken $9.50

Overall, not a bad experience. Food was a bit on the dearer side, however the fresh and modest meat does make up for it. I wouldn't suggest Zeus for a dinner type meal however it would be an ideal place for a catch up with friends! Give it a go :)

Much Love J and C
