SOKYO THE STAR

WHERE: Level G, The Darling at The Star, 80 Pyrmont St, Pyrmont

For our two year anniversary lunch, J took me to Sokyo. A restaurant that I have mentioned on my bucket list. We decided to choose the $45 lunch menu which is a three course set (miso soup, mixed green salad) and added several oysters.

J used to not be a big fan of oysters, however he decided to get a few. My oh my! His view has changed, as long as the oysters aren't huge he will eat it. Luckily the oysters at Sokyo weren't big so he had no issues eating it. Wow... the oysters had an amazing sauce to compliment it, instantly we regretted not ordering more... so good.

Pacific Oyster 5 (minimum of 3 pieces)

Plum Wine & lime granite, spicy ponzu

Salmon Ssamjang

Red shiso, ginger, ssamjang dressing

 Short Rib Tosazu
Pickled grapes, chestnut puree, tarragon, tosazu

Every piece of the Short Rib was delicate and the meat being tender just melted in your mouth.

Red Snapper
Coriander salad, black pepper chilli vinegar

Cuttlefish
Chilli de arbol, tarragon ponzu sauce

Lamb Chops
Black garlic eggplant purée, Aka miso, Basil

                                                                         Sea Scallops
                                                          Wasabi shitake pepper sauce

The sauces to all the dishes were amazing. Which leaves me thinking, how mind blowing the food would be in Japan.

We felt quite content and not overly full after our meal. What a memorable experience for our two years. We would definitely come back for some more oysters.

Thank you Justin and thank you for having us Sokyo!

Much love

J and C
