BBQ ONE EASTWOOD

WHERE: Shop 181, Rowe Street. Eastwood NSW 2122.

BBQ One, a small shop serving a variety of Chinese meals but we only come here for one thing. The BBQ pork, crispy pork and soy chicken. Most of the time during lunch you would most likely need to share a table with other guests.

Have you ever tried one meal and decided not try anything else, because you believe that nothing can beat that delicious dish you just had? That's just like us. When entering BBQ One we automatically knew what we want to order because of the attachment we have with these following combinations. Each meal comes with free soup and tea.

Extra ginger and shallot please! Comes with the Soy Chicken.

If you are in this area, do not give this place a miss as we have tried other BBQ meat places and this is definitely our favourite one to beat!

KANZI FASHION CAFE

WHERE: 393- 399 Sussex Street, Haymarket.

Yay we finally found a closer place to home that serves Patbingsoo (Korean Ice shaved dessert). If you ever have cravings for Patbingsoo like us, you would understand how exciting it is to have a cafe that serves this icy dessert instead of driving 30-40 mins away to Strathfield (and trust us, we do.)

Kanzi Fashion Cafe is a half clothing store and half cafe layout, which use to be a Asian grocery store hence the spacious area. There is inside and outside dining with electronic plugs for laptops and phones to charge, to encourage visitors to sit down and stay longer. Free wifi! This cafe also has a snack/ lunch menu, but we only came here for the Bing Soo.

It was a very cold night and despite the rainy weather, we decided to be a hero and take spoonfuls of shaved ice, because there is always room for dessert.

Mocha $4.00

Melon Bing Soo $18.80

The cafe serves regular Patbingsoo with fruits but this one was called the Melon Bing Soo. The Melon Bing Soo is topped with a half sliced melon, melon balls, ice, vanilla ice cream, condensed milk, and a Melona ice cream.

If you live in Sydney, please let us know which cafe you visit for Patbingsoo?  We would love to here out new recommendations!

Much love J and C

PIE TIN NEWTOWN

WHERE: 1A Brown Street, Newtown
9519 7880

After watching Poh's Kitchen last weekend on making apple pies, our taste buds were driving us crazy for freshly made pastry pies.

The only place that came across our minds at that time was Pie Tin. One of Newtowns hidden gems, just around the corner of King Street. Pie tin serves a list of sweet and savoury pies. It was difficult deciding what to choose but meat is always on the agenda. We had decided to go for two meals and an extra pie. Meals are around $11-14 with two sides or chips. Pies alone range from $5.50- 8.80.

Dessert pies including oreo cheesecake, mars bar, tim tams, meringue, maltesers, rocky road and more. Chocolate heaven.

Look at the size of those sweet potato fries. Just the right crisp.

Did I not mention that the Strawberry Milkshake was mouth watering? It definitely was

Southern style shredded pork with apple and bbq sauce.

Getting full onto the second pie.

Sweet roasted maple syrup flavoured duck with cointreau

We had ordered way too much for the two of us that the server looked at us with such astonishment in her eyes. We kept dessert pies on the top of our minds, but did not quite get to that level as we were way too full for it. Feeling rather disappointed but did not want to end up feeling sick.  We had to call it quits on the third pie, which was the Sicilian Chili Lovers Sausage Pie.

The pies here, as you can see are very chunky and hearty not like most pies. There is also an option to choose fries (regular/ sweet potato) or salad for your sides. Sweet potato really fills you up before starting on the pie. The coleslaw was just amazing and fresh!
If you do decide to come here, come ready on a really empty stomach.

Much love J and C
